Abe, 11.5

· December 22, 2025 ·

Abe’s person contacted us two years before she passed away, telling us that she had incurable cancer, she wasn’t sure how long she would live, and that when she died she wanted her bearded collie to come to us, stay with us, and not be adopted out, We agreed. She died just before Thanksgiving 2025 and Abe joined us soon after. He was quite shell-shocked when he moved in, but after a good grooming to clear out his mats and extractions of six bad teeth, he settled in well. He loves long walks and meeting new people and he always chooses to relax on a sofa or chair rather than on a bed on the floor. An oddity: he’s afraid of the dark (outside, not inside). We thought maybe it was a vision thing, but the vet said no. He loves to show all his toys–one at a time–to every visitor.
