Buddy came to us from the Fremont County Humane Society after he landed there as a stray and adoption efforts were unsuccessful. We agreed to take him even though he was two years younger than our cutoff because, frankly, he was a mess and we were sure no one would take him on. He has extreme allergies that cost about $2,000 a year to treat, hip displasia that will eventually require surgery, and the highest level of anxiety we and the trainer who helped have ever seen (the result, no doubt, of having been a pass-around dog his whole life, moved from owner to owner with no consistency or routine). Despite his rotten history, he is sweet, loving, and quick to attach himself. He was adopted from us a few months after we got him by a wonderful couple who accept his issues and are committed to working through them with him for the rest of his life. We will be paying for his allergy shots for life, and his hip surgery when it becomes necessary; they are paying for all his other medical care, special food, and whatever else comes up.
